I went to windmill fabrics today and picked up:
- 60"x60" exterior grade nylon (forest green)
- 60"x60" exterior grade cotton/ lycra blend (chartreuse)
- 10 yards nylon chord
- 2 packs, 1/4" dia. grommets
I also went in today and cut (12) 4"x4" grid squares for testing on Saturday.
Terry and I will pick up materials for the room framework friday morning, and Pax and others may begin to set it up pre-class Saturday.
SD DEADLINE REMINDER: our SD deadline/ review will be on March 04. Be think if you'd like to do this as teams or as individuals. We will have a group crit with a guest, review the work with our associates at NeRD, and select a design to pursue for the rest of the semester. All submissiosn will be required to do both a cube model and a full scale room-frame mock-up in addition to site documentation and diagrams for all three sites. (this makes group work seem the most realistic)
Underlying Program Goals:
// lead students in HANDS-ON construction combined with a design studio education in order to discover new intersections between design and fabrication.
// foster a COLLABORATIVE studio environment such that students engage more fully in a dialogue with their peers, practitioners, context and communities.
// implement architecture, design and the making of space to catalyze POSITIVE SOCIAL CHANGE and stewardship of our built environment.
